Holder, Fraser Rock India “A”

August 7, 2019

TAROUBA, Trinidad – Destructive spells from Chemar Holder and Akim Fraser helped West Indies “A” defy half-centuries from Wriddhiman Saha and Hanuma Vihari to limit India “A” in the third “Test” here.

Holder triggered a late order slide to end with 3-47 from 16 overs and off-spinner Akim Fraser bagged 3-53 from 15 overs, as the Indians were bowled out for 201 in their first innings, after they were put in to bat on the opening day of the contest at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

Fraser undermined the Indian top order to leave them struggling on 48 for four, but Saha hit the top score of 62 and Vihari, his captain, made 55 to lead the recovery for the visitors.

Vihari featured in successive half-century stands, sharing 86 for the fifth wicket with Saha and 55 for the sixth wicket with Shivam Dube before they lost their last five wickets for just 12 in the space of 41 balls.

Leg-spinner Yannic Cariah hastened the decline with 2-45 from 13 overs.

West Indies “A” then reached 23 for one when stumps were drawn, losing veteran opener Montcin Hodge for 15 to the day’s final’s delivery, bowled missing an ambitious drive at off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham.

Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.
