West Indies stretched their second innings lead to 154 after Rahkeem Cornwall’s five-wicket haul helped bowl Bangladesh out for 296 on Saturday. With the visitors on 41-3 in the second turn at the crease, the fourth day will be crucial for both teams as they fight to control the match.

The visitors have the advantage, having secured a healthy first-innings lead. First Test hero Nkrumah Bonner will resume on eight not out and with him nightwatchman Jomel Warrican on two.Rahkeem Cornwall celebrates 5-wicket haul vs BangladeshPlay Video

Earlier, Cornwall took 5-74 off 32 overs to capture his second five-wicket haul in his fifth Test match. Fast bowler Shannon Gabriel also bowled well to take 3-70 and Alzarri Joseph had 2-60.

“I think it’s a good performance. The coaches have helped to put me in a good frame of mind to go out there and do my job. I think the conditions are good. The pitches are a bit slow. This one here in Dhaka has a bit more bounce than the one in Chattogram. You have to be patient. You have to bowl straight, and look for bounce and spin,” Cornwall said.

“That’s what the bowling coach suggested as well. Tomorrow is going to be crucial. The first hour will be crucial. We can bat through to lunch and then assess from there.”

Mohammad Mithun and Mushfiqur Rahim started the positively for Bangladesh. Mushfiqur brought about his 22nd Test half-century, but then West Indies captain, Kraigg Brathwaite, brought Cornwall into the attack and the accurate off-spinner made the difference.

Mithun was undone, as he was caught at short mid-wicket. Cornwall also removed Mushfiqur two overs later as the batsman got tangled up in a reverse sweep but the ball ended up in the safe hands of Kyle Mayers at cover.

Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan did a repair job for the home team. They added 126 before Liton departed in the fourth over after tea. He got a faint edge off his bat that was gobbled up by-keeper Joshua Da Silva. Two balls later, Cornwall dismissed Nayeem for a duck and Gabriel then joined the party, removing Mehidy for 57 in the next over.

Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.
