A clinical display with bat and ball by Trinidad & Tobago Red Force, saw them convincingly topple the Leeward Islands Hurricanes to stay unbeaten after four matches and go top of the table in CG Insurance Super50 Cup.

The Leewards pretty much lost the game with the bat as experienced bowling duo of CG Insurance Man-of-the-Match Ravi Rampaul and Sunil Narine, who have a combined 293 List A matches and 454 wickets rocked their innings.

Rampaul and Narine took six of 10 wickets to fall as the Hurricanes posted the lowest total of their year’s competition of 129 all out in 46.1 overs, The Red Force then reached the target scoring 130-1 in 24.5 overs.

T&T gave a List A debut to exciting young fast bowler Jayden Seales and left-arm spinner Khary Pierre. A highlight moment of their bowling display was Narine who took his first wickets of CG Super50 2021, bowling Terrance Warde with a huge off-break.

In the run chase aggressive left-handed opener Evin Lewis (28) got after to his usual brisk start hitting thee fours and two sixes on his knock, before being dismissed against the run of play, caught at point off Quinton Boatswain. However when centurion from the previous match, Jason Mohammed (40 not out) joined Kjorn Ottley (47 not out), they built a 93-run partnership and comfortably got to the target.

“It feels great (Man-of-the-Match), the pitches aren’t bowling friendly and there is a strong breeze as well, so I am very happy with the performance of all our bowlers today especially”, said Rampaul.

“I played here a couple years ago in Antigua and the pitches had a little bit more in it for the fast bowlers, so we have to work with what we have, find ways of getting wickets for the team and so far we are doing that.”

Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.

My take on women’s cricket is that it has grown, but it can grow a bit more once we continue to support it.
