The #BANvWI tour is special for so many potential ODI debutants

Let’s take a look at Andre McCarthy @mccarthy_andre [who is on debut today.

Andre McIntosh McCarthy is a 33-year-old Jamaican.Andre started playing on the streets of his community, Waltham and then at the Maxfield Park summer camp.

What inspired you to keep going over the years? “Just the love of the game and wanting to make my family proud.”

What was your reaction to hearing the news? My first reaction was ‘I finally got the call I was waiting for’. I was with a friend and shared the news, we were both so happy.

How does it feel so far? “The feeling is great, playing ODI for the West Indies was one of my childhood dreams so I am a bit excited.”

If called upon to make your debut, what do you hope to deliver? “For me it’s just to go out there and enjoy the moment and just trust the process that has brought me here.”

What are you looking forward to most from the tour? “For this tour I’m looking forward to just playing my brand and style of cricket.”

What inspirational or motivational quote do you live by?

” See it, believe it, do it.”
