Q&A with Kavem Hodge

February 2, 2021

We’re ready for Test cricket💃🏽🕺🏽 Just before, we have a feature lined up for you on another potential debutant of the #BANvWI series. 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

Kavem Hodge is affectionately known as Hodgey/Battistuta. The 27-year-old hails from Antrizle, Dominica.

Hodge started playing cricket on the beach at the age of 5 with older guys in his village and says he stayed motivated over the years because he knew others who achieved at the highest level and because of the individuals who helped and made sacrifices for him.

Kavem says he was “over the moon on hearing the news, even the next day I was trying to convince myself I wasn’t dreaming, I was very elated indeed”.

How does it feel so far for Kavem?
“It feels amazing; to be representing so many people and being part of such a rich culture is really indescribable”.

Once called upon to make his debut Kavem hopes “to play my role as effective as possible and contribute to the success of West Indies cricket in whatever shape or form”.

What’s Kavem looking forward to most from the tour?
“I’m looking forward to building a solid camaraderie with my fellow team members and the coaching staff and to making the most of the opportunity once it presents itself”.

Kavem lives by the mantras “To each his own” and “If it’s meant to be it will be.”

We’re so proud of you Hodgey🥳🤗 Congrats and all the best!!👍🏼
