WIPA Congratulates Guyana on the 2024 West Indies Championship Title

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) congratulates the Guyana Harpy Eagles on winning the 2024 West Indies Championship title. The win secured for Guyana back-to-back regional four-day titles, and seven (7) titles in the last nine (9) years. 

The Guyana Harpy Eagles claimed the trophy on Saturday, April 20, with an eight-wicket win over the Combined Colleges and Campuses (CCC) franchise. In addition to the trophy, Guyana earned the cash prize of USD$250,000, an increased incentive afforded by the newly negotiated and signed CWI-WIPA Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds, commented, “The West Indies Players’ Association heartily congratulates the Guyana Harpy Eagles on winning the 2024 West Indies Championships. We applaud the dominance and consistency of the Guyana franchise in the four-day format over the years, and we wish the team, the management, and the support staff many happy returns for the future.”
